What is Shotcrete?
Benefits of Shotcrete
Shotcrete is a fresh mix of concrete that is spayed through a pressurized hose onto formwork of some description. There are several surfaces that can take fresh concrete in this way: wood, steel & polystyrene for example. Shotcrete undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due to the force with which it is projected from the nozzle. It can be finished in many different ways from ‘off the gun’ spraying, up to F5 high finish Shotcrete. It can be used in formal designs or on very creative structures.
Shotcrete is strong as well as being fire and disaster resistant. It has low permeability and good thermal mass. It can be impacted/applied onto many shapes and surfaces, including vertical or overhead areas meaning it can be used on a wide range of projects. Along with these benefits, another considerable positive is the fact that it is cost effective and construction with Shotcrete is relatively quick.
